


A History of Accomplishment
Since Universal was established more than 45 years ago, we have continuously built upon our accomplishments.
Universal has continued to expand our vision and core competencies to grow the suite of service we bring to our clients. Our team has become a world leader in the project management, engineering, survey and construction management professional services industries.
1961
The initial Universal organization was founded to provide survey, mapping and right-of-way acquisition services to the oil and gas industry.

1982
Universal Ensco, Inc., was organized as a Texas Corporation under the parent firm, Universal Associates, Inc. to expand the firm's services to domestic and international clients.

1988
Universal completed a merger with Pipeline Design Enterprises to expand Universal's engineering design capabilities.

1992
Universal continued to expand the depth of its GIS and GPS surveying businesses. Universal purchases McGuinness & Associates, Inc. and GeoPlane Corporation.

1996 and 1997
Universal continued to expand their suite of construction services, and provided pipeline inspection personnel for five construction spreads being used for the construction of the 515-mile, 24-inch for Express Crude Oil Pipeline Project in Montana and Wyoming. In 1997, Universal began, completed and constructed the first "dense phase", high pressure natural gas pipeline in North America for Alliance Natural Gas Pipeline.

2006
Universal was awarded survey, design, construction and project management for 1,018-miles of new 30-inch pipe and 55-miles of new 24-inch pipe for USA Keystone Pipeline.
Universal has also been requested to submit a proposal to design the 39 pump stations and associated substations to support the 1,842-mile crude oil pipeline.

1966
Universal Associates, Inc., established as an Oklahoma corporation offering survey, mapping and limited engineering and inspection services.

1984
Universal adds construction inspection services and begins providing survey, mapping and inspection services for the installation of urban and cross-country telecommunications systems.

1990
Corporate expertise is further enhanced through the acquisition of Equity Projects, which developed, owned and operated gas gathering systems.

1993
Universal was awarded a contract for the 230-mile, 20-inch Tuscarora Natural Gas Pipeline in Nevada and California.
Approximately 150-miles of this work was conducted utilizing GPS technology and equipment without any conventional survey methods. A major innovative step in the pipeline industry.

2001 and 2002
Opened an international office in Beijing China and was awarded the construction management contract on the 2,600-mile East to West Pipeline in China.
Universal was also awarded engineering and procurement contract on the Oxy Eden-Yuturi Development Project in Ecuador.
2002
Awarded the construction management contract for Baku-Tbilsi-Ceyhan Crude Oil Pipeline in Turkey.

2007
Universal was awarded the project management, survey and design engineering for the Sherman Extension Pipeline Project. The project will be comprised of 178-miles of 36-inch pipeline and two compressor stations originating at a central delivery point on Enterprise's Texas intrastate pipeline system near Morgan Mill, Texas and will extend through the center of Barnett Shale development area to Sherman, Texas. This project will provide up to 1.1 Bcf/d of natural gas.
